Bingley
and the Five Rise Locks

A guide once said that you know Bingley for one of two reasons, Damart or the Five rise locks. It doese not matter if your party is split on this as they are both situated close to each other, in fact Damart is situated by the smaller 3 rise locks, and is easily found due to its tall chimney which can be seen for miles around.

The five rise locks are considered to be one of the seven wonders of the waterways system, it is where each lock forms part of the next one, referred to as a staircase lock.

Bingley village has a number of places to eat, besides pleasant walks next to the river Air.

Bingley would make a good starting point for a trip up the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
